HOW IT WORKS

A clear, structured process that keeps you in command of your progress.

We designed the care path to respect your time and remove unnecessary barriers, so you always know the next step.

01

Book Your Session

Choose a time to talk with a CRPO-registered therapist within 24 hours about what you are dealing with and what matters most right now. Have your VAC K-number handy and we take care of the billing.
02

Meet Your Therapist

You are matched with a therapist who understands military culture, operational stress, and the transition out of uniform, chosen for your goals, not whoever is available.
03

Start Focused Sessions

Set clear goals from session one and follow a structured, evidence-based approach. Plain language, practical tools, no fluff.
04

Build Stability You Keep

As therapy progresses the focus stays on day-to-day functioning: sleep, temper, focus, relationships, and readiness for what is next.

Why SolutionFirst Therapy

Professional Support That Understands Service

Meet with a regulated psychotherapist or registered social worker who has specialized training in military culture, operational stress injuries, trauma, moral injury, and the Operator Syndrome framework. Our therapists understand how years of high-intensity service can affect sleep, mood, alertness, relationships, identity, and day-to-day functioning.

Specialized Military Training

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How quickly can I actually start?

You can book a session within 24 hours, often the same day. Most Veterans do not need a referral to begin psychotherapy with us. If VAC requires pre-authorization for your coverage, we help you sort it out before your first session.

  • Does VAC cover this, and what will it cost me?

If you hold a VAC health identification card with mental health coverage, under Treatment Benefits or the Mental Health Benefits available while a disability application is being processed, your sessions can be billed directly to Medavie Blue Cross at no cost to you. Not sure what you have? Tell us on your intake call and we will check with you.

  • Do your therapists understand military life?

Yes. You are matched with a therapist experienced in operational stress, service culture, rank and responsibility, and the adjustment after release. You will not spend your sessions explaining the basics.

  • What if I'm not sure what I'm dealing with?

That is a normal place to start. Your first session is about what is showing up, such as sleep, temper, distance from family, or feeling switched on all the time, not about a label. You and your therapist set goals from there and review them as you go.

  • I'm still serving. Can I see you?

If you are still in the Regular Force, your mental health care is provided through CAF Health Services, so VAC does not cover our sessions. You can still see us privately or through extended health benefits. Class A and Class B Reservists may be eligible through VAC.
